Seasonal Allergies

Bill Mathews - Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Once again it's allergy season. I can tell because the amount of allergy medicine commercials has increased. The amount of money spent on over the counter medications is almost obscene. And none of these drugs address the cause of your allergies but only mask the symptoms. Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually alleviate the cause instead of just drying up the runny nose? Well, you can.

Dietary fats are important

One of the leading causes of over-sensitization to allergens is the amount of omega 6 fatty acids we consume. These fats are primarily found in vegetable oils. These oils make up a large portion of the ingredients found in processed foods, salad dressings and the like, and as a result are ingested in higher doses than the body can handle. When these omega 6 fats are out of balance, the beneficial omega 3 oils are overwhelmed and can lead to several diseases, hormonal problems, bad hair and skin and seasonal allergies. A significant change in dietary habits can alleviate these problems, make you healthier and help you to live a longer life with less illness.

As difficult as it sounds, reducing, and whenever possible, eliminating processed foods from your diet will be a huge step to correct this yearly ritual. Whenever possible eat whole foods, eat real butter not margarine and use oils such as flax and olive oil in your foods. You may have to take a tablespoon of raw flax oil each day for an extended period of time to balance the omega 6 to omega 3 levels.

Making these simple dietary changes will reduce the amount of omega 6 and linoleic fatty acids intake, and make a profound change in your body's metabolism. In addition, it will reduce the prostaglandin E2 production (which causes allergies) and increase the production of the good stuff helping to prevent these allergies. Getting on the right supplements, using a good quality air purifier and making sure your digestion is on track will be a powerful protocol for allergy health. In the clinic, we use a product from Standard Process called Allerplex with great results during the tough times. At times adding a digestive aid such as Multizyme (also from Standard Process) will greatly reduce a persons inhalant allergy.

Digestion important too

I need to emphasize the role of proper digestion in allergy relief. If you are a chronic antacid user, or suffer from consistent heartburn and digestive ailments, then we need to balance this issue before we can be successful with the allergy. I've noticed that many seasonal allergy sufferers also have a significant food sensitivity history, especially with proteins. I have written articles in the past that address digestive problems so I won't go into details.

If you are one of those who have severe seasonal allergies you may need to eliminate wheat, grains and dairy for a time. Sleep apnea and horrendous snoring can be a symptom of wheat sensitivity. Just because you are not allergic to wheat doesn't mean it is not playing a part in this disorder. Try this; eliminate all wheat and dairy for a week and see how you feel, and if you (and those you love) sleep better.

Water intake

Another player in allergy relief is dehydration. When we consume too much bread and sugars your body uses water to dilute and eliminate these excess sugars. So again we see the connection of a diet of high processed foods (high in sugar) contributing to dis-ease in the body. When the body uses up so much water, dehydration occurs. This then dries up the mucous membranes in your sinuses. This of course results in a reduced protective factor for inhaled allergens, dust, yeast and molds. Add to this the use of allergy medicines which dry you out even more, and it is no wonder dehydration is a part of the allergy puzzle.

Finally, there may be a need for overall liver support. When your body is trying to get rid of toxins (allergens), and your liver is struggling because of overload from poor diet, frequent medications and the like, you may need to give it some help.

Organic Stem Cell Therapy

Bill Mathews - Wednesday, January 12, 2011

I believe that stem cell therapy will provide the opportunity to see near miraculous health benefits in the near future. If the moral implications, logistics and negative public sentiment can be worked out, this therapy, I believe, will show great promise for otherwise untreatable conditions.

The idea that stem cells can be introduced into the body, and then transform into specific building blocks of nerve tissue, organ tissue or whatever the body needs to heal and rebuild, is exciting to say the least. Early research has shown that stem cell therapy can work.

Organic Stem Cells

Yet even before stem cells research, our bodies already contained the genetic blueprint in the cell nucleus for repair and re-growth. When this blueprint goes awry, our immune system overreacts with the end result of autoimmune disease and even early death. These tiny specks of life are called protomorphogens (PMGs), and are the blueprint skeletons for regeneration of tissue. PMGs accomplish this feat by actually helping in the construction of chromosomes, the final blueprint of life itself.

Early in the twentieth century, Dr. Royal Lee, the founder of Standard Process products, found that he could actually gather PMGs from the glands and organs of other mammals. He engineered a process to gather these cells and manufacture supplements that the human body could use. To my knowledge there is no other company that can duplicate this process.

Through the use of these PMGs, specific gland and organ tissue extracts can be used to help the body recover and rebuild new tissue and help the healing process. In the purest sense, we have at our disposal organic stem cell therapy. In addition to tissue repair, these products are extremely supportive to our immune system.

Auto Immune Disease

When the immune system goes haywire, autoimmune diseases are the result. The body will produce natural tissue antibodies or NTAs that turn on the body and cause disease and illness. A certain amount of these NTAs are necessary for normal body repair, however when gone unchecked, they can and will cause damage. Unfortunately, at this time western medicine has few treatment options short of powerful and sometimes harmful drugs.

Enter in PMGs and their natural ability to normalize and strengthen our immune system and correct specific gland and organ tissue imbalance. They do this by stabilizing the production of natural tissue antibodies. Therefore, PMGs are critical in the fight against autoimmune problems.

Most allergies are the result of over production of NTAs which cause an adverse production of histamine in the body. When protomorphogens are used, an over reactive immune system—an over production of NTAs, can be stabilized and reduced. This means that PMGs can help you reduce the pain of autoimmune disease and help correct allergies.

By “borrowing” PMGs from other mammals, incorporating them into supplements that contain the raw materials (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc.) for healing and growth, Dr. Lee was able to demonstrate that these specific supplements could help people heal when no other treatments were effective. The discovery of PMGs was not well understood, but further research and study found them similar to stem cells. Remember that stem cells can reproduce into any type of cell. PMGs are specific to the target tissue, gland or organ. Whereas stem cells are “blank” blueprints, PMGs are directed to their specific target—kidney to kidney, thyroid to thyroid and brain to brain etc.

When we supply the appropriate PMG in a supplement form with all the synergists and vital whole food nutrients, your body begins to heal itself. You are the only one that heals your body. No doctor, medical procedure or medication does that for you. It can help, but ultimately you are the true healer.

Traditional Medicine

Traditional medicine had a brief foray into PMG therapy which was called oral tolerance therapy. This therapy introduced bits of raw gland into the body and then the targeted gland or organ was observed for changes. Positive response was noted by experts including those at Johns Hopkins University. This therapy was crude at best and was soon replaced by pharmaceutical medications.

Dr. Lee found however, that manufacturing PMGs in their natural state delivered a far superior form of “organic stem cell therapy” which bypasses the stomach and goes directly to the intestines for metabolism and uptake.

True clinical nutrition works effectively in the body. It is safe and provides the body with the building blocks to heal. Many of the supplements I use in the clinic contain PMGs along with their synergists. In my opinion, this is truly cutting edge technology that has great promise and a good track record for effectiveness.
